The Traverse City Film Festival offered a film school on making and financing a film in Michigan, focusing on the film tax incentive.

A panel answered questions and explained the nuts and bolts of using the tax incentive and how to finance a film.

Two film makers on the panel explained that without the incentive, their movie might not have happened.

"When we grew up, making a movie was just kind of this magical fantasy of ours," said Chris Farah, who made their movie "Answer This!" in Ann Arbor. "It just seemed like, how does something like that happen? It was like and impossible idea."

He says the incentive isn't just important to small film makers, but also to creating an infrastructure in the state.
